این دهستان که نام آن برگرفته از رود و رودخانه است به این دلیل است که این روستا قبلا در جای دیگری قرار گرفته بود که در کنار رودخانه بود. ولی بعد ازسیل ۱۳۷۱ که باعث خرابی زیادی در سطح جنوب کشور شد با جابجایی به منطقه کنونی خود و احداث یک روستای جدید همان نام برای این روستا باقی ماند این روستا دربین راه مرکز شهرستان بندر خمیر به بخش رویدر قرار دارد. جمعیتی در حدود ۱۶۰۰ نفر در این روستا زندگی می کنند و شغل بیشتر مردم آزاد و یا در شرکتهای بیرون از روستا مشغول به کار هستند. این روستا در منطقه قبلی خود دارای آثار باستانی منجمله قلعه ی رودبار بود که در بالای روستا قرار گرفته بود که در قدیم برای دفاع و جلوگیری از هجوم غارتگران از آن استفاده می شد که هم اکنون آثار آن بر جای مانده است. این روستا دارای منابع طبیعی و گردشگری من جمله آب گرم دم کوه و نخلستان و چشمه سار مغ دونو و... می باشد.
